Brand identity design services for small businesses and startups
A logo on its own isn't a brand. We design complete brand identities for small businesses: the strategy, a memorable logo, and the visual identity around it (color, typography and the rules for using them), handed over as brand guidelines your team can follow.

02 Services
What our brand identity design services include
Brand identity design is the process of turning what your business stands for into a visual system people recognize and trust. Every project is built from the same parts, scaled to what your business needs right now.
Brand research and strategy
Before any sketching, we look at your customers, your competitors and what makes you different, then agree on your brand message and personality. A clear brand strategy is what makes the visual work make sense.
Logo design
A memorable logo built to work everywhere: a primary logo, a simplified mark for small spaces, and one-color versions for stamps, embroidery and print.
Visual identity system
The color palette, typography and supporting brand elements (patterns, icons, photography style) that turn a logo into a complete visual identity.
Brand guidelines
A brand style guide that documents the rules, so your team, your printer and your web developer apply the brand the same way every time.
Brand applications
We show the identity working on real things, such as business cards, signage, packaging, social profiles and your Google Business Profile, so it's ready on day one.
Website design and development
When your new identity is ready for a website, our sister studio Sleek Web Designs handles website design and development, so the brand experience stays consistent online.

How much does a logo cost?
Logo design cost ranges widely because "a logo" can mean anything from one file to a full identity. These are the things that move the price:
Research and strategy
Looking at your market and competitors before sketching makes for a mark that stands apart, and it takes time.
How many versions you need
A horizontal lockup, a stacked version, an icon for social, one-color for embroidery or stamps. Each is designed, not just resized.
Guidelines and handover
A brand guidelines document turns a logo into a brand identity your printer, web developer and staff can apply consistently.
Our Brand Builder package is a fixed $999. Logo and identity projects get a quote once we've read your brief. For a fuller breakdown, read our guide to how much a logo costs.
06 Who it's for
Branding for startups and small businesses
Big agencies build brands for companies with brand departments. Small business branding has a different job: it has to look credible on day one, work on a storefront sign, a Google Business Profile and a phone screen, and be simple enough that you can keep it consistent without a designer on staff. That's what we design for, whether you're a startup choosing a name's first look or an established business ready for a rebrand. Our small business branding guide and startup branding guide walk through it step by step.
Large branding agencies
Built for corporate identity programs, big teams and long timelines. Excellent work, priced and paced for companies with brand departments.
Freelancers and marketplaces
Often good value for a single logo. You manage the brief, the feedback and how the pieces fit together into a strong brand.
A brand identity studio
The middle path: a defined design process, brand strategy and a consistent brand identity delivered as one system, with branding solutions sized for a small business.
07 Process
How a brand identity project works
Discover
You tell us about your business, your customers and your competitors. We gather what you already have.
Concept
We explore logo directions and a palette, then present the strongest routes with the reasoning behind them.
Refine
You choose a direction and we refine it together, testing it at small sizes, in one color and on real applications.
Deliver
Final files in every format you need, plus brand guidelines so the identity stays consistent.
08 Free guide
Free brand guidelines checklist
Use this whether you hire us or not. A good brand guidelines document (also called a brand style guide or brand book) covers these sections. For a section-by-section outline you can copy, see our brand guidelines template.
- Logo usage. Primary and secondary versions, minimum size, clear space, and examples of misuse like stretching or recoloring.
- Color palette. Primary and secondary colors with HEX and RGB for screens, CMYK for print, and Pantone where spot color matters.
- Typography. Typefaces for headings and body text, weights, sizes and a fallback for when the brand font isn't available.
- Imagery. Photography and illustration style, plus icon rules, so visuals feel like they belong together.
- Voice. How the brand sounds in writing, with a few do and don't examples.
- Applications. How the system looks on real things: business cards, social profiles, signage, email signatures.
Logo file formats: which one to use
| Format | Type | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| SVG | Vector | Websites and apps. Scales to any size and stays sharp. |
| Vector | Sending to printers and sharing a file that opens anywhere. | |
| EPS / AI | Vector | Sign makers, embroidery and print vendors who work in design software. |
| PNG | Raster | Social media, documents and slides. Supports a transparent background. |
| JPG | Raster | Photos and quick previews only. No transparency, so avoid it for logos on color. |

11 FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a logo and a brand identity?
A logo is one mark. A brand identity is the whole visual system around it: logo variations, color palette, typography, imagery style and the rules for using them, written down in brand guidelines so everyone applies the brand the same way.
What is brand identity design?
Brand identity design is the process of creating the visual and verbal elements that represent your business: logo, color, typography, imagery and voice. Larger companies call it corporate identity. For a small business, it's simply how customers recognize you and what they expect from you.
What is included in a brand identity package?
Usually a logo suite, a color palette, typography, supporting brand elements and brand guidelines. Our packages range from logo design on its own to a full brand identity system, plus the Brand Builder package for getting a new business set up online.
What does a brand identity designer do?
A brand identity designer researches your market and competitors, turns your positioning into visual concepts, refines one direction with you, and delivers the final files along with guidelines for using them consistently.
Why is brand identity important for a small business?
A consistent brand identity makes you recognizable, helps you look credible before anyone talks to you, and makes every later piece of marketing faster, because the design decisions are already made.
How much does a logo cost?
It depends on scope: how much research is involved, how many logo versions and applications you need, and whether you want full brand guidelines. Our Brand Builder package is $999 one-time. Logo-only and full identity projects are quoted once we understand the brief.
What logo files will I receive?
Vector files (SVG, PDF and EPS) for print and scaling, plus PNG files with transparent backgrounds for web and social. The logo file formats table explains when to use each.
Do you work with businesses outside New York?
Yes. LunarVision Design Studios is based in Brooklyn and works remotely with small businesses and startups across the United States.
Can you also build the website for my new brand?
Yes. LunarVision Design Studios is a Sleek Web Designs studio, so once your identity is set the same team can design and build a website that uses it.
